Reports:
Courtyard 4-5 AFC Severnside
Another defeat! We were 2 down at half time and
came out for the second with all guns blazing. A simple long throw
from the right with a flick from Roy allowed Joe Baker the room
required for a neat finish at the far post. Game on, 2 minutes later
another right sided attack and a super cross from Steve Freear finds
Roy's head 10 yards out, on target? Of course 2 - 2.
We really have the wind behind us now and Carl Ingram picks up the
ball on the half way line, glides past 3 Severnsider's for a
clinical left foot finish inside the box, goal of the day. Then in
typical fashion a good old punt upfield catches Severnside with a
counter attack for Roy Hannay to latch onto and a first time left
foot strike is blocked by the keeper only to fall back to his feet
to stroke into an empty net. Then it happened, self destruct. A
mistake and a decent strike followed by a penalty ended what was to
be an Istanbul type comeback. Plenty of positives though! The
attendance was a couple of parents and half of severnsides
retirement crew (around 20 in total).Score
4-5. Roy Hannay x 2, J Baker, Ingram.
Courtyard 1-1 Droitwich Spa Eagles
Well, a top performance at last but still no cigar. The score was 1
- 1 but we were the better side by far. Roy was sent off on 40
minutes for a 2nd yellow, the first was for saying 'no way' and the
second for asking for no advantage. Even the eagles players and
manager were bemused! We also have a serious eye injury to our
captain which could keep him out for a while. Taking those points on
board I guess a point may appear as a good result. Our man of the
match was Alex Mann, a true dynamo in the centre of midfield. Having
a goal ruled out for no apparent reason only adds insult to injury.
We are as good as we think we are, we just need to believe it week
in and week out. Get well soon Boo.
